Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

The Supervisor of Architectural and Designer Services [SADS] oversees a team of Architectural Service Representatives [ASRs] and Designer Services Representatives [DSRs] and is responsible for sales activities in each of these areas.  The Supervisor provides leadership and guidance working towards the achievement of sales and profitability goals while operating within the company’s vision and values.  The Supervisor, alongside the Senior Manager, Architectural and Designer Services [MADS] develops and executes strategies and tactics to grow sales, market share, and profitability.  The Supervisor is also, and most importantly, responsible for the growth and development of the individuals on the team, including the achievement of objectives and expectations targeting the customer base that includes Architects, Designers, Other Design Professionals, and the firms that employ them.

 

Responsibilities you’ll be trusted with:

 

  • Alongside the MADS, develops and executes business plans and sales strategies that ensure attainment of company sales and profitability goals
  • Responsible for the development and performance of Architectural Services and Designer Services Representatives
  • Alongside the MADS, oversee policies and procedures for the Architectural and Designer Services group
  • Demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills and communication
  • Ensure there is an open dialogue between Manager and all internal and external (field) employees to create a positive work environment
  • Conducts regular coaching and counseling with ASRs and DSRs to motivate, build selling skills, foster effective communications, understand training and development needs, and provide direction for performance improvement including annual performance appraisals
  • Prepares developmental and/or action plans for individuals and the team to maximize performance
  • Creates and conducts training through meetings and conference calls
  • Assists ASRs and DSRs in preparation of professional presentations to Architects, Designers, and other Design Professionals, individually and in groups
  • Controls expenses to meet budget guidelines
  • Adheres to all company policies, procedures, and business ethics codes and ensures that they are communicated and implemented within the team
  • Recruits and hires ASRs and DSRs based on criteria agreed upon by senior management including new hire training
  • Ensures that ASRs and DSRs meet or exceed all activity standards
  • Develops and implements “best practices” to ensure that customers consistently receive superior service
  • Builds strong, positive, long-term relationships, and loyalty with customers
  • Demonstrates the ability to interact and cooperate with all company employees

Supervisory Responsibilities:  This role may have multiple supervisory responsibilities including subordinate supervisors.  Potential subordinate roles and groups may include but are not necessarily limited to:

  • Architectural Services Representative(s)
  • Designer Services Representative(s)

 

Education and/or Experience:  Level 6:  Bachelor’s degree (B.A., B.S., B.E.) from an accredited four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Language Skills:  Level 4:  Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations; ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; ability to effective present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.

 

Mathematical Skills:  Level 3:  Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, percentages, and profitability; the ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

 

Reasoning Ability:  Level 4:  Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form; ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:  None

 

Additional Information:  Good project management skills; good organization and time management skills; good oral and written communication skills; must be able to travel 25% of the time including global travel; good working knowledge of MS Office applications.

 

Compensation:  Base Salary plus Bonus based on identified KPI’s

Store and Outside Sales: Store and Outside Sales positions may have physical requirements that include, but are not limited to: (1) Lifting of items, such as sundries or containers of paint weighting from 5 to 75 pounds (2) Use of electronic equipment including, but not limited to computers, point of sale devices, communication devices (3) Driving a large delivery truck/vehicle (4) Climbing ladders (5) Walking on uneven surfaces, e.g., active construction sites (6) Interactions with customers, both face-to-face and on the telephone (7) Interaction with customers relating to color (8) Standing for long periods of time (9) Use of a respirator
