Philo is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Associate Financial Analyst (FP&A and Accounting) with a robust accounting background and expertise in tax to join our finance team. This candidate will split their time between Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) and Tax/Accounting work. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing in-depth financial analysis, strategic insights, and decision support to enhance the company's financial performance and strategic initiatives. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, analytical prowess, strong communication, and organizational skills.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Conduct comprehensive financial analysis to support strategic decision-making and business planning.

  • Develop and maintain complex financial models, forecasts, and reports to provide actionable insights into financial performance.

  • Prepare detailed financial reports, including variance analysis, budget vs. actual reports, and financial projections.

  • Assist in reviewing and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and accuracy in financial reporting.

  • Manage and analyze tax-related issues, including compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, tax planning, and preparation.

  • Collaborate with external tax advisors and internal teams to optimize tax strategies and ensure accurate reporting and filing.

  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance financial reporting and analysis efficiency.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather data, validate assumptions, and ensure accuracy in financial forecasting.

  • Evaluate business opportunities, investments, and projects through rigorous financial analysis and scenario modeling.

  • Support the annual budgeting and forecasting process, including coordination with various departments and ensuring alignment with strategic goals.

  • Assist in the preparation of presentations for senior management and stakeholders, highlighting key financial insights and recommendations.

  • Stay current with industry trends, financial regulations, and best practices to ensure compliance and optimal financial management.

  • Assist in special projects as needed


Qualifications:



  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; CPA desirable.

  • 4+ years of progressive experience in financial analysis, planning, and reporting, with a strong background in accounting and tax.

  • Proven experience with financial modeling and forecasting

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial software (e.g., Netsuite, or similar ERP systems)

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, standards (e.g., GAAP, IFRS), and financial reporting requirements.

  • Experience with tax compliance, tax planning, and working knowledge of tax regulations and reporting.

  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.

  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.

  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and strong organizational skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities effectively.
