As the Lead Electrical Engineer, you will hold comprehensive responsibility for the electrical design and implementation of our robots, from the inception of prototypes to scale production. Your involvement will span from forming our electrical design capability to driving all stages of development, ensuring that our designs transition smoothly into scalable, reliable systems.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead Strategy and System Architecture

    • Drive high-level design and architectural decisions for our electrical systems.

    • Establish and implement the engineering strategyΒ 

    • Build and scale a world-class engineering capability to support multiple diverse robot development activities.

  • End-to-End PCBA Design and Development

    • Lead full-stack hardware development, from initial concept to mass production.

    • Oversee specification, architecture, design, simulation, schematic creation, layout, manufacturing, bring-up, and validation of electronics.

    • Rapidly iterate as design requirements and product features mature over time.

  • Leadership

    • Drive and build upon our strong engineering culture, focusing on transparency, collaboration, and innovation.

    • Tackle open-ended challenges using first-principles approaches.

    • Stay at the forefront of emerging technologies and industry trends in robotics and electrical engineering.

  • Design Validation and Testing

    • Implement rigorous design validation processes using a range of test equipment.

    • Develop and oversee test automation for efficient and thorough validation of electrical systems.

    • Ensure designs meet relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • Educational Background and Experience

    • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.

    • At least 5 years of hands-on experience in analog and digital circuit design.

  • Expertise

    • Strong analytical, circuit analysis, and simulation skills.

    • Superb failure analysis and PCBA troubleshooting capabilities.

    • Deep understanding of analog & digital circuits (MOSFETs, op-amps, switching regulators, gate drivers, microcontrollers, SPI, I2C, component selection, power dissipation, etc.).

    • Experience designing RF circuits, antennas, and familiarity with common wireless communication protocols.

    • Familiarity with standard interfaces such as Ethernet, CAN, I2C, SPI, PCIe, USB, etc.

    • Knowledge of common MCU, CPU, FPGA devices and technologies.

    • Experience in design for signal integrity / power integrity.

    • Proficiency with Altium Designer and LTSpice.

    • Solid knowledge of Python for test automation and data analysis, and familiarity with C/C++.

  • Hands-on Skills

    • Proficiency with lab equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, electronic loads, thermal chambers, current-probes, etc.).

    • Ability to drive PCB layout, firmware, and validation activities.

    • Experience in automating tests and developing test methodologies.

  • Leadership and Adaptability

    • Ready for an early-stage adventure, able to hit the ground running with hands-on design work while developing system architectures and establishing electrical design capabilities.

    • Adaptable mindset to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving startup environment.
