Details of the Position: Dog Walker, AKA Adventure Walker!
- Dog Walkers drive company vans, transporting dogs to and from San Francisco to our doggie retreat in the hills of Montara, CA.
- You will have a pre-planned and set driving route for your regular four-legged fur buddies to and from our private Doggie Ranch.
- You then arrive at our Doggie Ranch (private, safe, clean, and enclosed) for an extraordinary group dog walking excursion filled with fun, exercise, socialization, chase, fetch, sniffing, love, and usually sunshine, with safety as a priority for our Top Dog SF clients.
- Daily tasks include taking photos for social media, daily client report cards for clients in the app, and pre-and post-Adventure Walk tasks.
- Our dog walkers are paid to complete their certification through Top Dog SF's Dog Walker University and Pet First Aid and CPR training within their first month of hire.
About You:
- You are reliable and punctual and prioritize safety.
- You are willing to learn and understand reward-based dog training methods.
- You are a capable driver comfortable with city traffic, larger vehicles, construction, city parking, street cleaning, hills, wet weather, etc.
- You exhibit excellent customer service skills and attention to detail.
- You are an excellent team player who can also work independently.
- You have a passion and patience for dogs!
- Previous dog experience is ideal but optional. We can teach the right person!
Job Duties Include:
- Safe dog pick-ups and drop-offs in company-provided vehicles.
- Walk, exercise, and return dogs home safely, professionally, clean, and timely from our dog ranch.
- Safe driving and accident-free animal transport.
- Provide a digital daily report card for each dog at the end of each day in our client software portal (either a picture or a short note).
- Using our walking, scheduling, and client communication software.
- Keeping the company vehicle clean and organized. Report any safety or maintenance issues immediately.
- Taking photos and videos of dogs for our social media and client updates.
Job Requirements:
- A valid California Driver's License (Regular Class C) with 5+ years of city driving experience (preferred). A clean driving record is a must.
- All employees must be able to check in and out daily at our office in the Outer Sunset District of San Francisco at 2121 Taraval St.
- Candidates must be available Monday to Friday from 7:30 am to 2:30 pm or 8:30 am to 3:30 pm for an average of 7 hours daily. Some weekend/evening hours may be required.
- Most tasks assigned will require you to walk or stand on your feet for several hours daily. Additional required duties are to drive, sit, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, twist, walk up and down stairs, handle extra small and large dogs, and be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable working with up to 15 dogs (with an assistant) at a time off leash in a secure outdoor environment after sufficient training.
- Comfortable completing a background check.
- Be able to follow client requests regarding pick-up and drop-off instructions and be flexible as things change.
- Capable of working outdoors (rain, wind, sunshine, cooler weather, dirt). You can adapt to traffic, the public, and barking dogs while you work.
- Exposure to solvents, disinfectants, sanitation chemicals, animal dander, saliva, urine, feces, animal teeth, and claws may contact hands, skin, and clothing.
- Previous customer service experience and the capability of communicating with clients, staff, and vendors in both written and spoken English is required.
- Capable of working successfully with little supervision.
- Patience and empathy to work with puppies and other animals with special needs and requirements (medical and behavioral concerns).
- Own a smartphone (iOS or Android) that can run our scheduling software (using data and GPS as needed).
- Wear comfortable and durable work shoes or boots to work. You must be prepared for a day working outdoors in a natural environment with groups of happy and excited dogs.
- Three professional references (we would prefer former managers or supervisors).
- A virtual or in-person interview is the next step in the process.
- Provide 3 references with 2 of these being previous workplace supervisors.
Compensation/ Benefits:
On top of enjoying working with a group of hard-working professionals, as an employee of Top Dog SF, you will also enjoy the following benefits:
- Competitive pay starting at $21/ hour and up *(depending upon experience).
- Full time-employees work approx. 35 to 40 hours a week (or $2940 - $3360 monthly), Monday through Friday, with a schedule of either 7:30 am to 2:30 pm or 8:30 am to 3:30 pm, for an average of 7 to 7.5 hours daily.
- Day time part time positions are available at 3 shifts a week Monday through Sunday of approx. 20 hours a week from approx. 8am to 3pm per day.
- Sick pay starts accruing on hire date at 1 hour per every 30 hours worked.
- Sick time of 72 hours per year that starts accruing on hire date and payable after 90 days.
- Monthly data reimbursement for cell phone usage is $50 monthly after three months for full time positions.
- Client referrals, employee referrals, and performance bonuses (base rate of $100 and up).
- Group Medical Insurance is available with a 50% employer contribution for a great plan with affordable coverage available after three months of employment.
- OR a Health Insurance Stipend of $100 a month is available for team members instead of group health coverage, available after completion of three months.
