The Mission Neighborhood Health Center (MNHC) is a non-profit, multi-site community health organization offering comprehensive health services in the Mission and Excelsior Districts of San Francisco.  The center offers primary health care services, adult medicine, pediatrics, family planning, OB/GYN, HIV and homeless services. 

We advocate for health equity and deliver innovative, high-quality services responsive to the neighborhoods and diverse communities we serve with a focus on the Latino Spanish-Speaking Communities.

We are currently looking for qualified candidates for our Human Resources Generalist role. This position reports to the Human Resources Director and is a Regular, Full-Time, Exempt role with a starting annual salary range of $75,400 to $83,000 with full benefits.

Primary Objective:
The HR Generalist is a critical member of the HR team, providing professional support across all stages of the employee life cycle. This role involves a broad range of responsibilities, including recruitment, retention strategies, HR informatics, training and development, employee orientation, and project management. The HR Generalist contributes to the development and implementation of HR programs and policies that align with organizational goals. The position requires a passion for working with people, attention to detail, and a commitment to fostering positive relationships within the organization.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities
  • Supports recruitment efforts by managing the Applicant Tracking System (ATS), screening candidates, scheduling interviews, and facilitating communication with applicants. Collaborates closely with hiring managers to ensure efficient and timely staffing.
  • Assists with the development and execution of retention strategies that support employee engagement and job satisfaction. The role involves ongoing collaboration with the HR team to improve organizational practices and employee experience.
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate employee data within the HR Information System (HRIS), ensuring that records are up to date. Utilizing HR data and metrics, the Generalist supports decision-making and monitors key trends in areas such as turnover and performance.
  • Helps design and implement training programs to promote employee growth. The position assists in assessing training needs and tracking progress to ensure the continuous development of staff.
  • Manage the onboarding process for new employees, including coordination of new hire paperwork, orientation sessions, and follow-up during the initial period to ensure a smooth transition into the organization.
  • Provides support on a variety of HR projects, including process improvements and employee engagement initiatives. This role also plays a key part in organizing employee programs and events across the organization’s various locations.
  • Provides administrative support to the HR Manager and HR Director, including scheduling meetings, preparing reports, and handling sensitive and confidential information with discretion. The Generalist also ensures compliance with legal requirements and organizational policies, including HIPAA, while maintaining department records and files.
Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Human Resources, or a combination of education and at least 2 years of professional administrative experience.
Skills
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in HR systems, such as HRIS and ATS, with the ability to generate reports and analyze HR data.
  • Excellent communication skills, with an emphasis on confidentiality and discretion.
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English required.
