Lead Electrical Engineer

Mind Company
Full-time
On-site
San Francisco, California, United States

About the team

Mind Company's mission is to build non-invasive neural interfaces - that is, enabling a communication layer between humans and other humans or computers, directly using thoughts.

In pursuit of this mission, our Hardware Team is responsible for building hardware such as EEG headsets that measure brain activity.

About the role

As our Lead Electrical Engineer, you will be directly responsible for electronics on our hardware products such as our 32-channel EEG headset.

You’ll be figuring out how to design PCB boards and other electronics for our hardware products based on evolving needs. You’ll work with researchers, hardware engineers, and the CTO.

This role is based in San Francisco, CA. We're an in-person company who deeply believe that great products are not built working from home.

In this role, you'll:

  • You will advance our PCB boards and overall sensor electronics that receive brain signals and amplify them 100,000x

  • Learn about the brain, and understand how hardware can be optimized for better ML model performance

  • Grow and manage the Electrical Engineering Team, and its direction

We're looking for candidates with the following traits:

  • 2+ years of course work or practical work with PCB layout design, schematic capture, and manufacturing

  • Strong experience with KiCad, Altium or Eagle, and has worked with voltage regulators, LDO, and switch mode power supplies (SMPS)

  • Radio frequency (RF) experience preferred but not required

  • Curious about the brain, and passionate about unlocking human-computer interaction

  • Strong leadership skills and self-starter, able to carry a project from beginning to end

About Mind Company

Mind Company is 6-person neuro-tech startup with the mission of building noninvasive neural interfaces. We build our own hardware systems which measure brain data, collect proprietary training datasets, and train useful ML models.

If we succeed, humans will be communicating at higher information rates, playing video games with their mind, and never using slow keyboards again. All without requiring surgery. Join us in making this vision a reality.
