Description

PURPOSE: To assist in the creation and coordination of original content for San Francisco Opera’s digital platforms (social media, video, digital newsletters) that engages, informs, and entertains current patrons, and builds curiosity and patronage from new audiences.


 


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:



  • Assist in the creation of original content for San Francisco Opera digital platforms including but not limited to San Francisco Opera social media, web, blog and emails that engage current and new audiences.

  • Collaborate with Marketing Manager, Digital & Acquisition and Associate Director of Marketing to establish, monitor, and maintain SF Opera’s brand voice across all platforms.

  • Assist in management of all SF Opera social channels (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube).

  • Along with Marketing Manager, Digital & Acquisition, set goals, and objectives for patron interaction and engagement with San Francisco Opera online content, and increase engagement with audiences digitally in the Bay Area and around the world.

  • Assist the Marketing Manager, Digital & Acquisition in design, development and implementation of strategy for video creation and dissemination, regularly assessing effectiveness of video campaigns.

  • Assist in creation and management of social media content calendar in collaboration with Marketing colleagues.

  • Assist the Marketing Manager, Digital & Acquisition in the coordination and implementation of influencer campaigns.

  • Be on the cutting edge of digital, social media, and online video trends, innovations, and emergent interactive technologies; make recommendations on new features and applications to keep the San Francisco Opera's position as an innovator in the field.

  • Prepare and analyze data for trends to drive engagement and grow new audiences.

  • Research opera repertoire, artists, productions, and archival materials.

  • Collaborate closely with Archive & Artistic department on artist specific and historical content.

  • Collaborate closely with Media department on creation of certain video content.

  • Collaborate closely with Web and Email Manager on website and email content.


 


SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:



  • Write copy for Marketing collateral.

  • Edit and proof Marketing materials.

  • Collaborate with Marketing team on retention, advertising, and engagement strategies to meet institutional goals.

  • Attend some evening and/or weekend performances/events as requested to perform related job functions.

  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.


Qualifications

EDUCATION:



  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (preferred) or equivalent work experience.


 


PREREQUISITE SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:



  • Experience creating original content for online platforms including social media, websites, email, and video.

  • Strong knowledge and command of social media platforms Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.

  • Knowledge of and passion for opera / performing arts preferred.

  • Creativity, an innovative spirit, initiative, positive demeanor, and be able to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

  • Excellent writer and careful editor.

  • Proficient in Microsoft programs. Ability to learn other software programs as needed.

  • Superior organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines.

  • Experience managing multilayered projects.

  • Must be able to work independently at times, set priorities, coordinate multiple projects simultaneously, and demonstrate efficient time management.

  • A collaborative spirit and ability to engage colleagues and leadership.

  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present effectively internally and externally.

  • Schedule flexibility and willingness to work some nights and weekends for events and performances as needed.
