About the Role

As a Backend Engineer at Anon, you'll help build and scale our core infrastructure and APIs that power AI agent authentication across the internet. You'll be responsible for developing the systems that enable secure, reliable integration between AI applications and internet services, even when formal APIs don't exist. This role involves substantial technical depth and ownership as you help create the foundation for the next generation of AI applications.


Key Responsibilities

Builder Mindset & Ownership

  • Take pride in building reliable, secure APIs that developers love to use

  • Own features end-to-end, from conception through deployment and maintenance

  • Actively identify and solve problems before they impact customers

Core Platform Development

  • Design and maintain scalable, secure APIs that power our suite of platform-specific SDKs

  • Implement networking features including traffic inspection, protocol-level request manipulation, and proxy systems

  • Engineer Kubernetes clusters and manage scalable browser runtime environments

  • Contribute to cryptographic protocol implementation and security infrastructure

Developer Experience

  • Create and maintain SDK documentation and sample applications

  • Manage API versioning and backwards compatibility

  • Support customer integration efforts and address technical challenges

  • Collaborate with product and frontend teams to improve developer experience

What We're Looking For

Technical Requirements

  • 2-5 years of experience for Standard role; 5-8+ years for Senior role

  • Strong proficiency in at least one of: TypeScript, Rust, or Go

  • Strong experience with REST API design, with GraphQL experience a plus

  • Familiarity with Kubernetes, microservice architecture, and cloud infrastructure

  • Understanding of authentication protocols (OAuth2, OpenID Connect)

  • Experience with browser automation tools (Playwright, Puppeteer) is a plus

  • Knowledge of networking protocols (HTTP, TCP, TLS) is a plus
