Our client has an opportunity available in our San Francisco office for a Specialist Paralegal supporting our Complex Litigation and Arbitration Practice Group.

The Specialist Paralegal utilizes expertise in the litigation lifecycle and associated procedures to provide essential support to attorneys. Key responsibilities include:

  • Performing tasks efficiently to enable the Firm to collect fees for services rendered.
  • Meeting billable hour targets, typically set at 1,725 hours annually.
  • Coordinating, organizing, preparing, and interpreting complex legal documents under attorney supervision.
  • Building and maintaining databases and files, and filing documents with courts and agencies.
  • Organizing, reviewing, and managing case files, compiling documents for court filings.
  • Managing confidential client information using eDiscovery tools and extranets for document and source code reviews.
  • Conducting electronic document reviews and coordinating document productions.
  • Assisting with deposition preparation and conducting factual research.
  • Coordinating trial preparations, attending trials, and supporting attorneys during court hearings.
  • Partnering with internal teams and external vendors, directing and training team members as needed.
  • Collaborating across departments to optimize procedures and communications.
  • Being available for overtime and travel as required, and handling additional projects as assigned.

Required Proficiencies:

  • Advanced proficiency in MS Outlook, web-based conference call/web-sharing applications.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Word, document editing/comparison applications.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, spreadsheet/database applications.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS PowerPoint, presentation applications.
  • Advanced proficiency in transcript management applications (LiveNote).
  • Advanced proficiency in online research (LexisNexis/Westlaw), utilizing PACER, CM/ECF, and other electronic databases.
  • Strong knowledge of litigation procedures, eDiscovery platforms, and legal billing processes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of Litigation Paralegal experience required.
  • Experience with arbitration/trial proceedings required, appellate practice experience preferred.
