The Mission Neighborhood Health Center is a non-profit, multi-site community health organization offering comprehensive health services in the Mission and Excelsior Districts of San Francisco.  The center offers primary health care services, adult medicine, pediatrics, family planning, OB/GYN, HIV and homeless services. 

We advocate for health equity and deliver innovative, high quality services responsive to the neighborhoods and diverse communities we serve with a focus on the Latino Spanish-Speaking Communities. 

We are currently looking for qualified candidates for our Staff Accountant role. This position reports to the Chief Financial Officer/Controller and is a Regular, Full Time, Non-exempt role with an hourly range of $30.80 to $33.12 with full benefits.

Primary Objective: 
The Staff Accountant is responsible for the monthly collation, reconciliation and classification of third party and other revenue reports to prepare the financial statements. The Staff Accountant will also perform monthly & quarterly PPS receipt reconciliation and post adjusting journal entries. Create monthly financial statements, conduct budget variance analyses, and update cash flow projection spreadsheet.  Work with the data analytics team to prepare monthly managed care and annual UDS reports. Work collectively with the finance team to ensure timely accurate financial reporting and financial analyses for the leadership team’s effective decision making. 

Essential Functions / Responsibilities:
  • Create monthly financial statements – organizational and departmentalized 

  • Prepare the monthly managed care report in conjunction with the data analytics team 

  • Update the weekly FQHC cash spreadsheet 

  • Provide AR posting team with daily bank deposit information 

  • Prepare monthly and quarterly PPS reconciliation 

  • Maintain quarterly/annually UDS spreadsheets 

  • Maintain, create, and input reports & budgets in MIP accounting software 

  • Update weekly cash flow spreadsheet  

  • Update monthly budget projection spreadsheet 

  • Perform analysis of inventory  

  • Assist with month end and year end close as needed – preparation of data for reports or audit schedules 

  • Sort and distribute finance related mail  

  • Perform various other financial analyses as needed for CFO/Controller 

  • Other duties as assigned by CFO/Controller

Position Qualification Requirements:

Education 

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance, preferably a Masters in Finance. 

  • 2 years as a financial analyst in the healthcare industry.

Experience

  • Knowledge of health care industry, in particular an understanding of FQHC operations, including; fund accounting, operating principles, guidelines and bylaws.  

  • Knowledge of budget preparation and administration, financial record keeping and reporting.  

  • Knowledge of specialized reporting requirements and procedures in the preparation of accounting records and financial statements.  

  • Ability to compile and analyze data and prepare summary status reports based on the data utilizing automated systems, databases, spreadsheets, and word processing programs.   

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.  

  • Exemplary communications skills (active listening, written & verbal).  

  • Strong financial management skills.  

  • Excellent customer service skills.   

  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize appropriately.

Software:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and other relevant technologies. 

  • Utilized fund accounting software, preferably MIP, Sage 100. 

  • Proficient in Power point

  • Ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information 

  • Comply with HIPAA and HITECH regulations 

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to sit approximately 80% of the time, walk 10% of the time and stand 10% of the time. The employee is frequently required to use hands and fingers to type or handle, feel, and operate objects. The employee is required to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to speak and listen. Specific vision abilities of this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
