Title: Group Van Driver
Department: Nutrition and Senior Centers
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Reports To: Program Coordinator
Summary: Transports program participants to activity centers, the Adult Day Care Center, grocery stores, and event locations.
Essential Functions:
1. Picks up and transports program participants for program activities and events.
2. Adheres to driver operating standards and procedures as required by San Francisco Paratransit.
3. Observes the specific conditions and needs of clients, especially safety on the bus. Provides appropriate assistance and referrals.
4. Inspects and maintains the vehicles in good condition and keeps appropriate record-keeping of all services, vehicle inspection reports, and usage/mileage.
5. Maintains accurate usage of Mobile Data Computer and reports malfunction.
6. Attends driving safety and in-service training as required.
7. Assists in the Home Delivered Meals operation.
8. Assists in the agency fundraising and department activities.
9. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
1. High school graduate with at least two years of work experience required. Experience working with the elderly is preferred.
2. Must have and maintain a valid CA Class C driver license, preferably a Commercial Class B driver license. Minimum two years of driving experience with a satisfactory driving record.
3. Must have an interest in working with seniors and adults with disabilities. Ability to work in a team environment.
4. Fluent in English, or fluent in Chinese including some English.
5. Must pass a pre-employment drug test.
6. Must have a Medical Examiner’s Certificate.
7. Must pass a criminal background check.
8. Must obtain First Aid and CPR certification by the end of the 3-month introductory period.
9. Must pass specific training as required by San Francisco Paratransit by the end of the 3-month introductory period.
10. Possess good communication and decision-making skills.
