POSITION OVERVIEW
This role helps lead the design process to yield sustainably-minded, consumer driven, durable, innovative, and commercially viable products that deliver value and style for the Taylor Stitch consumer as well as sustain the development, evolution and communication of the brand look that supports and deepens the brand value and identity.
Day to day:
- Report directly to and work with the Vice President of Design and Creative to shape seasonal conceptual direction.
- Partner with brand leadership to ensure cohesion with brand values and differentiation from other brands in the marketplace.
- Work hand in hand with Product Development and Technical Design leads to ensure designs are executed to quality standards and meet timelines.
- Conduct fabric, color, fit, and wash research for seasonal concepts.
- Execute technical sketches for initial technical packages.
- Attend fittings and update all design and development information.
- Work with manufacturing partners to execute design through concept, development, wash, and finishing.
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of cross-category experience in menswear or joint men's and women's apparel categories.
- Broad-base, expert knowledge of constructions in woven, cut and sew knit sweater constructions.
- Expert knowledge of garment wash, dye, and processing.
- Expert knowledge of fabric development.
- Expert working knowledge of Adobe Suite.
- Expert working knowledge of PLM systems.
- Excellent knowledge of market trends and creative direction.
- Excellent knowledge of vintage menswear, military and utilitarian detailing.
- Able to travel quarterly for seasonal research and key milestones.
