YOUR CAREER OPPORTUNITY




The Senior Grants Accountant is responsible for ensuring accurate, consistent, and timely accounting and compliance of the organization’s grants, including but not limited to, post-award grant accounting, budget modification as well as ensuring compliance with funding source administrative guidelines, timely receipt of revenue, accurate submission of financial and other related reports and grant regulations.


 


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES





  • Review and understand contracts for grant terms and conditions

  • Oversee and monitor monthly project expenditures to ensure alignment with approved budgets and compliance with relevant federal state, and other regulations (i.e. 2 CFR Part 200) as well as Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

  • Prepare monthly billing allocations for each respective programs and trackers on each grant

  • Onboarding and offboarding of grants which includes creation/purge of folders, schedules and trackers

  • Monthly reconciliations of grant trackers and grant schedules to ERP system

  • General ledger support for the Grants Managers including monthly entries and adjustments

  • Prepare revenue journal entries including TRNA releases, deferred revenue recognition, grant/contract revenue accruals, & revenue

  • Knowledge of temporarily restricted net asset and deferred revenue accounting recognition rules

  • Prepare/update monthly payroll allocation entries in relation to grant activities

  • Prepare various schedules including TRNA, Deferred Grant, AR Reconciliation, Grant Summary, SEFA and other audit schedules

  • Maintain organized records and documentation to facilitate audit readiness

  • Assist with compliance, fiscal and single audit requests, grants schedules, and open items lists and support for both MEDA and Single Audit

  • Other duties as assigned

To perform successfully in this role, you will need to leverage these key qualifications:




Education & Experience



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field, or equivalent experience.




Core Competencies and Skills / Qualifications



  • 5+ years of experience in the Nonprofit sector; including general accounting, and compliance experience.

  • 5+ years of experience in budget development and grants management.

  • Excellent verbal communication, active listening, writing, and editing skills.

  • Strong team collaborator is nimble & flexible, highly resourceful, able to wear many hats.
