Do you like machines that move heavy things? Is it even better if they make cool noises? Do you hate parking? Do you love parking? If so, we have a job for you.

is looking for a versatile senior mechanical engineer to help bring our robotic parking garage to life. You'll make robots that safely stow patrons' cars, and retrieve them upon demand. There are lots of other mechanisms and infrastructure that go into a robot garage too. You'll work closely with our interdisciplinary team of robot nerds to make everything come together.

THE ROLE:

In this role, you will handle everything including our AGV that moves cars, the automated systems that interact with it, and designing the rest of the garage of the future. You must be excited at the prospect of seeing your creation actually deployed out into the wild. To accomplish this, you will need to:

  • Drive the design of complex electromechanical systems, components, and products forward from concept to production

  • Roll up your sleeves to do some design, modeling, analysis, prototyping, and validation of mechanical components and manufacturing processes

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (EE, SW, project and product managers) to integrate mechanical components into complete systems - ROBOTICS IS A TEAM SPORT

  • Work closely with suppliers and manufacturing partners to ensure a seamless transition from design to production

  • Don't forget the documentation

  • Occasional travel required to facilitate customer installations and wrangle vendors

YOU HAVE:

  • BS in mechanical engineering (or equivalent)

  • Minimum 7-10 years designing and developing products

  • Strong proficiency in Solidworks, PDM, and simulation tools

  • Solid understanding of large steel structures, injection molding, casting, sheet metal and other manufacturing processes

  • Experience with mechatronics design

  • Good hands on prototyping and testing skills

  • Ability to perform, or at least interpret, structural analysis

  • You need to be a clear communicator, and that includes the documentation you generate

  • Enthusiasm to come onsite to the office at least 3 days per week

  • Must love robots

NICE TO HAVE:

  • You have shipped a product

  • Familiarity with agency certs and testing (UL, IEC, ISO, CE)

  • FEA ability, static/dynamic analysis

  • Familiarity with architectural engineering plans and related documentation

  • Level 4 (Advanced) on your Vendor Management skill tree

  • Dangerous hobbies a plus
