What you’ll be doing:

As a Staff Accountant for City Auto, you will play a key role in our finance department, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records and reports. Reporting directly to the Director of Accounting and Financial Reporting, you will be responsible for performing various accounting functions.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Lead the monthly close process for a multi-site organization.
  • Prepare routine and non-routine journal entries (revenue, cash, AR, operating expenses, fixed assets, AP, inventory, accruals) to ensure proper recognition of revenue and expenses.
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial data.
  • Record and manage intercompany payables and receivables.
  • Monitor and analyze financial data to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide additional support to the Corporate Accounting and Finance function as needed.
  • Assist in the budgeting and forecasts process as needed.
  • Assist in the preparation of audit schedules and providing supporting documentation as needed by external auditors.
  • Adherence to key reporting deadlines and deliverables.
  • Participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned by management.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred; CPA certification is a plus.
  • 3+ years of accounting experience.
  • Thorough understanding of GAAP principles and financial reporting requirements.
  • Ability to be ‘hands-on’ and work as a team player.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and integrity in financial reporting.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems; experience with QuickBooks and Epicor is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with spreadsheets and large volumes of data.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
